Five Research Centers and 43 Technology Units Active at Shahroud University of Medical Sciences

The President of Shahroud University of Medical Sciences (SHMU) announced that five research centers and 43 technology units are currently active at the university.

Speaking to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA), Dr. Mohammad-Hassan Emamian said that more than 75 technological products, 20 knowledge-based products, and 80 domestic and international patents have so far been registered or developed at Shahroud University of Medical Sciences.

Elaborating on the formation and development of Shahroud University of Medical Sciences over the past four decades, he stated that the institution’s history dates back to midwifery education. Over the years, the institution underwent structural changes and expanded its educational and healthcare missions, eventually developing into a university of medical sciences.

Referring to the approval of medical student admissions at Shahroud Faculty of Medical Sciences in 2006, Dr. Emamian noted that this decision paved the way for the establishment of the School of Medicine and, subsequently, the institution’s advancement into a university of medical sciences.

The President of Shahroud University of Medical Sciences further stated that the university has now developed into an extensive organization active in education, healthcare, and public health. It currently comprises seven vice-chancellorships, two health and treatment networks, five schools, and three hospitals.

He added that the university also oversees 23 urban and road emergency medical bases, one air ambulance base, 63 rural health houses, 27 urban and rural comprehensive health service centers, and 18 urban health posts.

Dr. Emamian continued that more than 3,500 staff members are active across the university’s educational, public health, and healthcare sectors. In addition, 162 faculty members, alongside more than 2,500 students, are engaged in educational and scientific activities across 29 academic programs.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Emamian highlighted the activities of the Shahvar Health Technology Campus, Health Technology Incubator, and Health Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center, noting that the development of technological infrastructure and the establishment of a Health Science and Technology Park are also among the university’s future plans.
